Say hello to the ATH-SR6BT, one Audio-Technica’s latest wireless headphones inventions. ATH-SR6BT is the combination of a lot of improvements along with new and shiny feature introductions, as we will see later.
The headsets are in an exclusive partnership between BestBuy and Audio-Technica, to what extent?
We don’t know, except that the new headsets will only be seen on display at BestBuy stores and the online website of the store, BestBuy.com.
We feel the need to imply here to make this clear, ATH-SR6BT are not available to be bought anywhere other than BestBuy stores or website, not officially at least.
With an optimized experience specially created to please smartphone users, ATH-SR6BT has improved on many of its previous features. The company seemingly felt the need of an upgrade too, which was fulfilled by the new features that are debuting in AT’s new headphone. Putting it to context, follows next is the list of features worthy of being highlighted, may they be an upgrade on a previous feature, or a new introduction:
- Convenience control panel
- NFC and Bluetooth
- Easy to control built-in microphone
- Claimed 30-hour long Battery life
Convenience Control Panel
ATH-SR6BT may have lost the wire but Audio-Technica makes sure that the user does not lose control of its headphones.
A convenience control panel is integrated on the left earcup, consisting of controls to manage headset’s internal volume, microphone, and send play/stop, next, and previous commands to the smartphone. In case the battery is low or you are a chords person, an aux jack is available to use the headphones as normal non-wireless headphones, without using a Bluetooth connection.
NFC and Bluetooth technology
ATH-SR6BT high-resolution headsets’ wireless capabilities are powered by Bluetooth and NFC wireless technology. The Bluetooth specifically, features the aptX technology which is known to improve the quality of transmitted signal over Bluetooth by a huge extent.
ATH-SR6BT will yield a truly stunning music experience when used with smartphones. NFC technology makes it easy for the device’s Bluetooth to connect automatically once it has recognized your smartphone as a friendly device. Tapping any device to the imprinted “N” on the left ear cup is enough to have your devices paired and ready.
Easy to control built-in microphone
ATH-SR6BT deploy a microphone in the control panel on the left earcup, allowing the user to receive calls without actually going through the 5-second debacle of taking the headphones off, cutting the Bluetooth connection, and then receive the call.
Not to forget, the microphone in ATH-SR6BT is a high-fidelity Omni-directional condenser microphone, if you don’t know what that is, just know that these microphones are the best possible voice recorder you can get in such a small size.
Rechargeable Li-polymer battery packed inside ATH-SR6BT headsets has a theoretical standby life of 1000 hours. Audio-Technica states that a user can use the headphones for 30 hours non-stop after a full charge, pretty sweet battery life if you want our opinion. A USB cable will be provided in the package for charging.
These were some of the best features that we thought are worth mentioning in a headset. Of course, that’s not all, ATH-SR6BT have are supportable with AAC and SBC codecs, and use 45mm sound drivers, that is where the unparalleled sound quality comes from.
Also, the headsets have a foldable design, easy to store and protect, with lots of padding to make the experience more comfortable and make the sound more isolated. A pouch will be accompanying the headsets in the package. ATH-SR6BT are expected to be launched at a price of $199, on 21 of May.
